Getting Started
The East Texas Electrical +Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee accepts applications year round. Applications may be requested by calling 817-542-1324 or 866-689-6322. Applications are open to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, national origin, or gender.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED
- Must have completed, with a passing grade, one year of high school algebra, or equivalent, (GED algebra
not accepted)
- Must be physically capable of performing electrical construction work – all applicants who are accepted
into the Program will have a drug screen and may be required to take a physical exam, which will include
testing for color blindness.

- Official High School Transcript
- Veterans – Copy of DD214 as proof of service and copy of Discharge
- GED Certificate (if applicable)
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Social Security Card
- College Transcripts (if applicable)
Interview
The Apprenticeship Committee (6 members) will notify applicants of the date, time, and location of their
interview. The Committee will select the individuals that they believe to be the top prospects for the
electrical industry. Items taken into consideration at the interview are educational background, math
background, character, interest, cooperativeness, attitude, and personal appearance.
Term of Apprenticeship
The term of apprenticeship is a minimum of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training spread over five (5) years
and 180 hours minimum per year of related classroom instruction. Apprentices are required to have a
computer for classroom training. Cost for books and online sessions will be approximately 600 to 800
dollars per year.
